How to Make Time for Yourself When Your Schedule Is Full

“Let me get through this week first.”

It’s an understandable response when your calendar is crowded. But if another busy week keeps taking its place, your own care can remain something you intend to get to.

Before adding a new wellness routine, look at the day you actually have.

Find the point where the day becomes difficult

Choose an ordinary weekday and walk through it.

When do you begin feeling depleted? What happens around that time?

You might spend hours sitting without a break. You might arrive home exhausted and immediately begin taking care of everyone else. Your workday may continue well into the evening through messages and unfinished tasks.

The helpful adjustment depends on what is happening.

Give one practice a specific place

Choose something that addresses the difficulty you’ve noticed.

For example:

After lunch, take a short walk.

When you arrive home, take a few quiet minutes before beginning the evening.

At an appropriate stopping time, put work away and start winding down.

A specific place in the day gives you something to arrange around. “Sometime today” is easier to keep postponing.

Decide what needs to change

If your day is full, adding something requires a decision.

Do you need to end a task earlier? Ask someone to take a responsibility? Reconsider a commitment? Tell your household when you need a few uninterrupted minutes?

Include that adjustment in the plan. Otherwise, the new practice is competing for time that has already been assigned elsewhere.

Account for demanding days

Decide what is workable when the longer version won’t fit.

You may take a shorter walk or use an indoor option when daylight or weather changes. You may simplify your evening routine while still giving yourself a clear...Read More

How to Reconnect With Past Clients in a Service Business

A client hasn’t booked in months. You would be happy to work with her again, but you’re unsure what to say.

Before you assume she was unhappy, remember that you don’t yet know why she stopped coming. Her schedule may have changed. She may have been meaning to book. There could also be a concern you need to hear.

A thoughtful invitation gives you a way to open the conversation.

Choose the relationship before writing the message

Start with a few past clients you would genuinely welcome back.

Review what they hired you for and whether there were any unresolved questions or concerns. Consider whether your current services still fit their needs.

Use an appropriate contact channel that respects their communication preferences.

Give the invitation a relevant reason

Someone who used to book a regular service may appreciate current appointment information.

A former project client may need an update or review. Someone who attended a workshop may be interested in a related experience.

Explain why you’re contacting that person now.

Here’s an example for an appointment-based business:

“Hi, Anne. It’s [name] from [business]. It’s been a while since we’ve seen you, and I wanted to send our current booking information. If you’ve been meaning to schedule, here’s the link. If you’re unsure which service to choose, you’re welcome to reply and ask.”

For a consultant:

“Hi, Anne. When we worked together, we focused on your client onboarding. If your services or team have changed since then, that process may need an update. I’m offering an onboarding review. Would you like me to send the details?”

Adapt the message to the actual relationship. Personalization should be accurate.

Make the next step easy

Give the client one clear action.

That might be booking through a link, replying with a question,...Read More

How Taking Time for Yourself Can Support Sustainable Success

When you own a business, an open afternoon can quickly become a catch-up session.

There are messages to answer, details to organize, and ideas you haven’t had time to develop. Using the available time for yourself may feel difficult to justify.

Recently, I had an afternoon free and saw a last-minute yoga with horses event. The farm was two and a half hours away.

I decided to go anyway.

Horses had been a large part of my life, and I wanted that connection again. The experience left me feeling more centered and creatively refreshed. It also reminded me that making time for yourself deserves a place in the way you plan your work and your life.

Identify what you actually want to do

“More personal time” is a reasonable wish, but it can remain vague enough to postpone indefinitely.

Choose an activity you can picture doing.

Perhaps you want to return to painting, walk a favorite trail, attend a class, or spend an unhurried afternoon with a friend.

Your choice doesn’t need to sound impressive. Consider what you miss, what interests you, and what you have enjoyed in the past.

In my case, acknowledging that I wanted horses back in my life helped me recognize an opportunity when it appeared.

Separate the scheduling problem from the guilt

Some obstacles require a practical solution. You may need childcare, coverage at work, transportation, or a less expensive option.

Other obstacles come from the belief that available time should always go toward something productive.

Before dismissing an activity, look at the actual circumstances:

Is there a commitment that conflicts with it?

What would need to be arranged?

Is there a smaller version that would still be enjoyable?

Are you available but uncomfortable choosing yourself?

Those questions help you identify what needs solving.

For my trip,...Read More

Why Certain People Trigger You:

Have you ever wondered why one person's comment can roll right off your back, while almost the exact same comment from someone else can bother you for hours?

Or why you can feel confident, capable and completely yourself around one person, then find yourself second-guessing everything you say around someone else?

Maybe there's someone who makes you defensive almost immediately.

Someone you can't seem to say no to.

Someone around whom you suddenly feel the need to explain yourself, prove yourself, keep the peace or make sure they're okay.

And then there are those people around whom you can almost feel yourself exhale.

What's going on?

We tend to explain these experiences by saying things like, "She triggers me," or "He makes me anxious."

And sometimes the other person's behavior absolutely is part of the problem.

But there's another piece worth understanding.

Your brain and nervous system aren't experiencing each interaction as though you've never lived a day before it. You're bringing your history, previous experiences, expectations, learned patterns and ways of protecting yourself into the relationship, too.

And sometimes another person touches something that was already there.

Your Nervous System Is Constantly Taking In Information

Long before you've consciously decided how you feel about someone, you're taking in information.

Their tone of voice.

Facial expressions.

Body language.

Tension.

Warmth.

Predictability.

Whether they seem interested in you.

Whether you're being welcomed, dismissed, judged or respected.

Some of this happens consciously. Much of it doesn't require us to sit there analyzing every signal.

There are several concepts that touch on different pieces of these interpersonal experiences, including emotional contagion,...Read More

The Final Four Months: How to Decide What Matters Most in Your Business

September has a way of making us feel as though we should suddenly have everything figured out.

Summer is not over, and I am certainly not trying to rush it out the door. We even get another week before Labor Day this year, and I plan to enjoy it.

But the fact is, we are moving into the final four months of the year. If you own a business, that can create an interesting mix of excitement and pressure.

Part of you may feel some of that old back-to-school energy. You want a fresh notebook, a clear plan, and maybe a clean desk. You begin thinking that this is your chance to regroup and finally get everything moving.

Then you remember everything you planned to do this year that has not happened yet.

Suddenly, “finish the year strong” starts to mean squeezing six months of plans into four months of actual life.

I do not think that is what you need.

You do not need to rescue the entire year between September and December. You need to look honestly at your business as it exists today and decide what matters most now.

That word now is important.

Your business may not be in the same place it was in January. You are probably not in exactly the same...Read More

How to Find Your People in Your Next Season of Life

There are people who will never fully understand your vision.

Then there are people who recognize something in you almost immediately. They see your value, your heart, and your potential, sometimes before you are able to see all of it yourself.

Finding those people matters.

This becomes especially important when you enter a new season of life. You may be changing careers, growing a business, rebuilding after a difficult chapter, exploring interests that you put aside years ago, or simply realizing that the woman you are now needs something different.

Growth changes what fits. That includes some of our relationships, communities, conversations, and environments.

It does not mean the people from an earlier chapter were wrong for you. It may simply mean you are ready for relationships that can meet you where you are now and encourage where you are going next.

This struggle can happen at any age

We sometimes talk about finding our people as if it is something we should have figured out in school or early adulthood. But you can find yourself questioning where you belong at almost any stage of life.

I have experienced it myself. I have also watched my daughter, who is smart, kind, giving, and beautiful, move through it at different stages of her life.

There can be an assumption that a woman with strength, beauty, confidence, intelligence, or a noticeable presence must find connection easily. That is not always true. The very qualities that draw some people toward her may make someone else uncomfortable.

We cannot always know whether another person feels threatened, insecure, competitive, or whether the connection simply is not right. We also do not need to make their response the measure of our worth.

Sometimes two people are simply...Read More

The Woman Behind the Mom:

As we approach Mother's Day this Sunday, I thought I'd take a moment to have the conversation many mom's are battling within and not enough are talking about...

Mother’s Day Isn’t the Same for Everyone
Mother’s Day is often painted as a perfect picture-flowers,brunch, gratitude.
But for many women, it’s more complicated than that.
It can feel:

beautiful and meaningful

overwhelming and exhausting

reflective… even a little heavy

Sometimes all at once.

And that doesn’t make you ungrateful.
It makes you human.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re carrying a lot behind thescenes...especially on a day that’s supposed to celebrate you-this is for you.

The Woman Behind the Roles
Most women don’t just hold one role.
You’re a mother, yes.
But you may also be:

a partner

a daughter

a caregiver

a professional

a friend

the one everyone relies on

And over time, those roles can start to blend together.
Until one day, you look up and quietly wonder: Who am I… outside of everything I do for everyone else?
That question doesn’t come from selfishness.
It comes from awareness.

Why So Many Women Feel Disconnected

If you’ve been feeling a little “off,” there are a fewcommon reasons:

1. You’ve Been in...Read More

You don’t need another business strategy.

You don’t need a better planner.
You don’t need to “get more disciplined.”
You don’t need to wake up earlier or work harder.

If you’re being honest…

You’re already doing a lot.

And yet your business still feels:

heavier than it should

harder than it needs to be

and more exhausting than you expected

So let’s get real about what’s actually going on.

THE REAL PROBLEM

Most service-based business owners think:

👉 “I just need to run this like a CEO”

But what they actually do is:

👉 run their business from pressure, urgency, and constant output

They’re:

in sessions all day

answering messages at night

thinking about the business 24/7

constantly trying to “catch up”

That’s not CEO energy.

That’s survival mode-survival energy.

WHY THIS DOESN’T WORK

You can’t build a sustainable, scalable business
from a system that’s already overloaded.

Because when you’re operating from exhaustion:

every decision feels heavier

every problem feels urgent

every task feels like too much

So instead of leading…

You’re reacting.

And over time?

CEO VS SERVICE PROVIDER (REAL DIFFERENCE)

<span...Read More
